TUBAKUBA

Tubakuba is a part of City of Bergen’s initiative to promote simple outdoor life for families with children. Adults (without children) only get to use the cabin in short notice, and in case it's not been booked by any families.

We accept bookings for three months at a time. An example: In May we accept bookings for the months of May, June and July, and in June we accept bookings for June, July and August, and so on.

Tubakuba is intended as a private getaway from every day family life so that children can appreciate the outdoors along with the peace and quiet that can be found in the cabin.

The City of Bergen requests that tourists and other visitors respect the area around Tubakuba and understand that it was not built as a tourist attraction.

The project was carried out by students at BAS (Bergen School of Architecture) under the supervision of professors with expertise in architecture and carpentry, along with financing from the GC Rieber Funds. The cabin was opened on June 24, 2014. The cabin consists of a simple cube with an organic portal that curves inwards to form the entrance. Wood was used in innovative ways in the project, especially the curved wood strips.

We are sorry to tell you that you need a norwegian sosial security number to book Tubakuba.
